Studio Guidelines

Enjoy working on your ceramic project in a relaxing social setting in our well resourced pottery studio space.

Friday - Free Roam Potters: $12 

9:30 -12:30

For experienced potters and anyone who has completed a course with us. No instruction is provided. Participants are able to use the wheels, equipment and tools. Clay, materials and firing are to be purchased and are not included.

Saturday Studio Time with Tash: $30

10:00 -1:00 

A relaxed weekend studio with our studio manager Tash of Sunday Ceramics. All welcome! Our Studio Time lets you access our equipment and work at your own pace in a relaxed, community space.

The cost includes:

- Use of all tools and equipment including Venco pottery wheels, extruder, forms, and wedging table.

- 10% off firing for work made during studio time 

- Free access on Friday Free Roam of that week (the Friday after your Saturday session).

- Participants have an allocated shelf for all work.

Clay, glazes and firing is not included.  

 

STUDIO RULES AND GUIDELINES

 

For the safety of everyone and the maintenance of the equipment and space, all participants must follow these guidelines. By attending studio time, you are agreeing to follow these rules.

 

  • Glazes, slips, underglazes and clay are not provided and must be purchased.
  • You must have some experience and know what you are doing with all equipment and tools, Friday participants need to have completed a 4 or 8 week course with us or the equivalent somewhere else before using the equipment. Saturday participants must ask for instruction before using equipment that is unfamiliar to them.
  • You must be 16+ to use Studio Time or be accompanied by an adult.
  • All equipment MUST be cleaned & returned after use, wheels should be cleaned thoroughly and bench space wiped. Tools are to be cleaned and put back.
  • You may keep your work on your shelves marked for Studio Time, however the space provided is limited so please be considerate of others and don’t use up all the shelf space.
  • Work left on the shelf for 3+ months without communication or an organised pickup time will be thrown away.
  • No dry sanding. Always minimise dust by working with moist or wet clay.
  • .Making of plaster moulds is not available in the space.
  • Wear closed toe shoes.
  • Bring your own towel and apron.
  • Your work must be signed so that it can be identified.
  • If firing work, it needs to be taken to the firing service and correct procedure followed. 
  • If you damage equipment you must pay to replace it.
  • Everyone in attendance at studio time must pay to participate, you cannot come in to watch.
  • Follow the instruction of the studio manager at all times.
  • Don't wash clay or glaze down the sink, use the buckets provided. Empty water buckets outside.
